Barbershops

Social media videos and content for Long Island barbershops

Quick answer

Core Media Co., a photography and video studio at 523 Lake Avenue in Saint James, NY, makes monthly social media content for barbershops across Long Island: fades and line-ups in close-up, shaves, the barbers, and the shop. The shop's own playlist is kept out of the audio, and children are filmed only with a parent's written consent. Plans run $1,500 to $4,000 per month with a six-month minimum.

Updated

A barbershop sells the cut and the chair: the fade blended clean, the line-up sharp, and a barber people want to sit with every two weeks. We film the cut from the first pass to the mirror check, the shave, the barbers, and the shop when it is full, and hand over a month of Reels, photos, and captions.

Two things catch shops out on social media. The music playing in the shop ends up in the audio, and a song you do not hold a business license for can get a piece muted or removed. And a big share of the chairs on a Saturday are kids. We record with the playlist off or replace the audio, and film children only with a parent's written consent. You post the pieces, or hand them to whoever runs your accounts.

Through the year

A barbershop year, in content

The book fills around school, events, and the holidays. Pieces go out ahead of each rush.

  1. Spring

Prom, graduation, and First Communion cuts, booked weeks ahead.

  2. June

Father's Day, gift cards, and father and son appointments.

  3. Back to school

The late August rush of kids' cuts, and the slots to book before it.

  4. Fall

Game days, longer styles, and beard season.

  5. The holidays

Holiday party cuts and the last open chairs before New Year's Eve, posted early.

The work

What we make for a barbershop

Pieces built on the cut and the barber.

  • The fade, start to finish

A full cut compressed into thirty seconds, from the first guard to the mirror check.

  • The line-up

The trimmer on the hairline and the beard edge, in close-up and slow motion.

  • The shave

Hot towel, lather, and the straight razor, filmed for the sound as much as the picture.

  • The barber

One barber at a time, on their signature cut and how they learned it, with a signed release.

  • The shop

The chairs, the wall, and the room when it is busy, with no client recognizable without a release.

  • Book before the rush

Open slots before prom, Father's Day, or back to school, cut as a short Reel.

How we film a barbershop

Rules we keep on every shop shoot, on top of the overview's.

  • The shop's playlist is turned off while we record, or the audio is replaced with music licensed for business use.
  • Children are filmed only with a parent's or guardian's written consent, and never recognizably without it.
  • Clients in the chair sign a release before their face is in a piece.
  • The barber shown cutting or shaving holds a barber license.
  • Clippers, razors, and capes are shown as the shop uses them, with the shop's own cleaning routine visible if the barber wants it shown.
  • Waiting clients are kept out of frame or unrecognizable.

A content month

What a month looks like

Examples of how each tier tends to fill for a barbershop. The content calendar sets the real mix around your book.

  1. Partner

    $1,500 per month

One content day on a weekday morning, with three or four regulars who have agreed to be filmed. Four to six finished pieces, for example two fades, a line-up, a shave, and a barber introduction, delivered within 5 business days.

  2. Partner+

    $2,750 per month

Two content days, one on cuts and shaves and one on the barbers and the shop on a busy day. One long form video of 5 to 10 minutes, such as the owner on how the shop started, ten short form pieces, and three to four static or carousel posts. 3 business day turnaround.

  3. Flagship

    $4,000 per month

A weekly presence through the year, with event coverage included, such as a back to school charity cut day or a shop anniversary: 16+ finished pieces a month and 48 hour turnaround.

Your side

What your shop provides

We do the planning, filming, editing, and captions. These stay with you.

  • Clients for each content day who have agreed to be filmed, each with a signed release, and a parent's for any child.
  • Barbers willing to be on camera, each with a signed release.
  • The playlist off while we record.
  • Prices and booking details exactly as you want them published.
  • Someone to post the finished pieces and answer the comments and messages they bring in.

Rules

Rules that shape barbershop content

Barber licenses, kids in the chair, and the music in the shop.

A plain reading of each rule with its source, not legal advice. We are not your compliance department, and we do not pretend to be. Your compliance team or counsel has the final word on every piece.

Questions

Questions barbershops ask us

Who makes social media videos for barbershops on Long Island?
Core Media Co., a photography and video studio at 523 Lake Avenue in Saint James, NY. We film fades, line-ups, shaves, and barbers for shops across Suffolk and Nassau County, and hand over a month of finished Reels, photos, and captions. Plans run $1,500 to $4,000 per month with a six-month minimum.
How much does monthly content cost for a barbershop?
Partner is $1,500, Partner+ is $2,750, and Flagship is $4,000 per month, each with a six-month minimum term, then month to month. Partner is 1 content day and 4 to 6 finished pieces a month. Partner+ is 2 content days, 1 long form video of 5 to 10 minutes, 10 short form pieces, and 3 to 4 static or carousel posts. Flagship is a weekly presence with 16+ pieces and event coverage included. The tiers are the same for a barbershop as for any other business.
Can we use the music that plays in the shop?
Not unless you hold a license for business use. Meta's Music Guidelines prohibit using music for commercial purposes without the appropriate licenses, and a song in the background is still in the piece. We record with the playlist off or replace the audio with licensed music.
Can you film kids getting haircuts?
Yes, with a parent's or guardian's written consent, which New York's Civil Rights Law section 50 requires before a minor's likeness is used for advertising. Without it, a child is kept out of frame.
Do you need the shop to close while you film?
No. Most shops book a slower morning for the cuts we film close up and let us shoot the room during a busy stretch, with waiting clients kept out of frame or unrecognizable.
Do you post to our accounts or run our ads?
No. We make the content and hand it over ready to post: the finished files and their captions, cut for each platform, in a shared folder. You post them, or pass them to whoever runs your accounts. We do not post, boost posts, or run ads, and we do not promise follower numbers.
