Caterers and food trucks

Social media content for Long Island caterers and food trucks

Quick answer

Core Media Co., a photography and video studio at 523 Lake Avenue in Saint James, NY, makes monthly social media content for caterers and food trucks across Long Island: tastings, commissary prep, stations set before the guests arrive, and the truck at its stops. Private events are filmed only with the host's and the venue's OK. Plans run $1,500 to $4,000 per month with a six-month minimum.

Updated

A caterer's work is seen by a few hundred guests and then it is gone. We film it before anyone eats: the commissary at full speed, the tasting with the chef, the stations and platters set and lit before the doors open, and the team in service. For a food truck, it is the window, the griddle, and the line at a stop. Then we hand over a month of Reels, photos, and captions.

Most catering happens at someone else's party, in someone else's venue. So we film the food and the setup, not the event: the host and the venue agree first, guests stay out of the piece unless they sign a release, and we do not cover the occasion itself. You post the pieces, or hand them to whoever runs your accounts.

Through the year

A catering and food truck year, in content

Bookings come months ahead. Pieces go out while people are still choosing.

  1. Late winter

Tasting season for spring and summer bookings, and the chef on menus and stations.

  2. Spring

Graduations, communions, and corporate events, and the food truck back on the road.

  3. Summer

Outdoor setups, clambakes, the truck at festivals and breweries, and the busiest weeks of the year.

  4. Fall and the holidays

Office holiday parties and holiday trays, posted weeks before the booking window closes.

The work

What we make for a caterer or food truck

Pieces that show scale, setup, and the food at its best moment.

  • The setup, start to finish

An empty room to a dressed buffet or station, as a time-lapse, before the guests arrive.

  • The tasting

The chef walking a client through a menu, with the client's OK, or a staged tasting with your team.

  • Prep in the commissary

Hundreds of portions moving at once, filmed from where the chef puts us.

  • The truck at a stop

The window, the griddle, the first order of the day, and the line, with customers kept unrecognizable.

  • Menus and stations

Each station or package as a short piece and a carousel, in your words and at your prices.

  • Where to find us

The week's truck stops as a carousel, from the schedule you send.

How we film catering and trucks

Someone else's party, someone else's venue, your food. These are the rules.

  • The host and the venue agree in writing before we film at a private event, and we film the food and setup, not the occasion.
  • Guests are left out of every piece unless they sign a release, and children only with a parent's written consent.
  • We finish the setup shots before the doors open and leave the room to your team.
  • Every dish shown is your own, plated or set as it is served.
  • At a truck stop, customers are kept unrecognizable, and the stop is named only if you want it named.
  • Venue names, logos, and decor belong to the venue. They appear only with the venue's OK.

A content month

What a month looks like

Examples of how each tier tends to fill for a caterer or food truck. The content calendar sets the real mix around your bookings.

  1. Partner

    $1,500 per month

One content day, for example a tasting and commissary prep, or a full day on the truck. Four to six finished pieces, such as a setup time-lapse, a tasting piece, a menu carousel, and a truck Reel, delivered within 5 business days.

  2. Partner+

    $2,750 per month

Two content days, one in the kitchen and one at a setup the host and venue have agreed to. One long form video of 5 to 10 minutes, such as the owner walking through a full event from prep to breakdown, ten short form pieces, and three to four static or carousel posts. 3 business day turnaround.

  3. Flagship

    $4,000 per month

A weekly presence through the season, with event coverage included, such as a food truck rally or your own open house: 16+ finished pieces a month and 48 hour turnaround.

Your side

What your company provides

We do the planning, filming, editing, and captions. These stay with you.

  • Events where the host and the venue have agreed to filming in writing.
  • Your tasting and truck schedule, so content days land on the best food.
  • Menus, packages, and prices exactly as you want them published.
  • Chefs and staff willing to be on camera, each with a signed release.
  • Someone to post the finished pieces and answer the comments and messages they bring in.

Rules

Rules that shape catering and food truck content

Guests at someone else's event, what the food on screen has to be, and reviews.

  • Guests at a private event

New York's Civil Rights Law section 50 makes it a misdemeanor to use a living person's name, portrait, picture, likeness, or voice for advertising or trade without their written consent, or a parent's for a minor, and section 51 lets that person sue to stop the use and recover damages. A guest at a party you cater did not agree to be in your advertising, so guests stay out of every piece unless they sign a release.

  • The plate shown is the plate served

New York's General Business Law section 350 declares false advertising in the conduct of any business unlawful, and section 350-a defines it as advertising that is misleading in a material respect, judged by representations made by statement, word, design, device, sound, or any combination of them. A plate styled with something the kitchen does not serve, or a portion bigger than the one on the menu, is that kind of representation. We film the dish as your kitchen sends it out.

  • Comped meals and reviews

The FTC's rule on fake reviews and testimonials, announced August 14, 2024, bans fake reviews, rewards conditioned on a positive review, and undisclosed reviews from your own staff. A guest who speaks on camera does so unpaid and unscripted, and a meal comped for a creator is never conditioned on what they say.

  • Music needs a license for business use

Meta's Music Guidelines, which apply on Instagram and Facebook, say that using music for commercial or non-personal purposes is prohibited unless you have the appropriate licenses. We cut every piece to music licensed for it, or to none.

A plain reading of each rule with its source, not legal advice. We are not your compliance department, and we do not pretend to be. Your compliance team or counsel has the final word on every piece.

Questions

Questions caterers and food trucks ask us

Who makes social media content for caterers and food trucks on Long Island?
Core Media Co., a photography and video studio at 523 Lake Avenue in Saint James, NY. We film tastings, prep, setups before the guests arrive, and trucks at their stops across Suffolk and Nassau County, and hand over a month of finished Reels, photos, and captions. Plans run $1,500 to $4,000 per month with a six-month minimum.
How much does monthly content cost for a caterer or food truck?
Partner is $1,500, Partner+ is $2,750, and Flagship is $4,000 per month, each with a six-month minimum term, then month to month. Partner is 1 content day and 4 to 6 finished pieces a month. Partner+ is 2 content days, 1 long form video of 5 to 10 minutes, 10 short form pieces, and 3 to 4 static or carousel posts. Flagship is a weekly presence with 16+ pieces and event coverage included. The tiers are the same for a caterer or food truck as for any other business.
Can you film at the events we cater?
Yes, the food and the setup, when the host and the venue agree in writing first. We shoot the stations and platters before the doors open, and guests stay out of every piece unless they sign a release. We do not cover the occasion itself.
What should a food truck post?
Where you will be this week, the window and the griddle at a stop, the first order of the day, and new menu items. A weekly schedule carousel plus two or three short Reels from one day on the road fills most of a month.
Do you film weddings?
No. We do not offer wedding coverage. For a caterer, we can film your food and setup at a venue before guests arrive, with the host's and the venue's written OK.
Do you post to our accounts or run our ads?
No. We make the content and hand it over ready to post: the finished files and their captions, cut for each platform, in a shared folder. You post them, or pass them to whoever runs your accounts. We do not post, boost posts, or run ads, and we do not promise follower numbers.
