Marinas, boat dealers, and charters
Social media content for Long Island marinas, boat dealers, and charter boats
Quick answer
Core Media Co., a photography and video studio at 523 Lake Avenue in Saint James, NY, makes monthly social media content for marinas, boat dealers, and charter and fishing boats across Long Island: launch to haul-out, boats on the water, and trips from the dock. Passenger counts and kept fish stay inside Coast Guard and DEC rules. Plans run $1,500 to $4,000 per month with a six-month minimum.
Updated
Boating on Long Island is a season people plan all winter. They pick a slip, a boat, or a charter from what they see on their phone: the marina at sunrise, a boat on plane in the bay, a fish coming over the rail. We film from the dock, from a chase boat, and from the air where airspace allows, and hand over a month of Reels, photos, and captions.
The water has its own rules. A charter that carries paying passengers runs under a Coast Guard license with a passenger limit, a fishing charter needs a DEC license, and a fish shown kept has to be legal that day. We film inside those lines and leave sizes, limits, and capacities to the captain's own wording. You post the pieces, or hand them to whoever runs your accounts.
Through the year
A boating year, in content
The season is short, and the decisions are made before it starts.
Winter
Boat shows, slip renewals, new models, and charter dates booked for the summer.
Spring commissioning
Boats coming out of storage, bottom paint, launch day, and the yard at full speed.
Summer
Boats on the Sound and the bays, sunset cruises, the fuel dock, and fluke and sea bass trips.
Fall run
Striped bass and false albacore on the fall run, and the last long weekends on the water.
Haul-out
Winterizing, shrink wrap, storage, and service plans, posted before owners decide where to store.
The work
What we make for a marina, dealer, or charter
Pieces that put a viewer on the water.
The boat on plane
A boat running in the bay, filmed from a chase boat and from the air where allowed, for a dealer's walkthrough or a charter's trip.
The walkthrough
A boat from the bow to the helm to the engines, with specifications as the dealer gives them.
The marina at first light
The docks, the yard, the fuel dock, and the amenities, before the day starts.
The trip
A charter or fishing trip from the dock to the return, with passengers who signed releases and fish handled as the captain handles them.
The captain
The captain on how a trip runs, what to bring, and what the season is doing, in their own words.
The yard
Commissioning, service, and haul-out, so an owner sees who works on the boat.

How we film on the water
Rules we keep on every marine shoot.
- We ride as the captain directs, inside the boat's passenger limit, and never as an extra paying passenger.
- Passengers and owners appear only with a signed release, and other people's boats and names stay out of focus where we can.
- Kept fish are shown only as the captain says are legal that day; sizes and limits in captions are the captain's words.
- The drone flies beside people, never over them, launched where the marina and the airspace allow.
- Boat specifications, prices, and availability are worded exactly as the dealer gives them to us.
- Life jackets and safe handling are shown as the boat runs them, with nothing staged for the camera.
A content month
What a month looks like
Examples of how each tier tends to fill for a marina, dealer, or charter. The content calendar sets the real mix around the weather.
Partner
$1,500 per month
One content day, often an early morning on the water. Four to six finished pieces, for example a boat on plane, a walkthrough, a marina piece, and a captain piece, delivered within 5 business days.
Partner+
$2,750 per month
Two content days, one on the water and one at the dock or the yard. One long form video of 5 to 10 minutes, such as a full trip from the dock and back or a model walkthrough with the dealer, ten short form pieces, and three to four static or carousel posts. 3 business day turnaround.
Flagship
$4,000 per month
A weekly presence through the season, with event coverage included, such as a boat show, a fishing tournament, or launch day: 16+ finished pieces a month and 48 hour turnaround.

Your side
What your business provides
We do the planning, filming, editing, and captions. These stay with you.
- A boat and a captain for any on-the-water day, with room for our crew inside the passenger limit.
- Passengers, owners, and staff willing to be filmed, each with a signed release.
- Boat specifications, prices, and charter rates exactly as you want them published.
- The captain's word on what fish are legal to keep, and any size or limit in a caption.
- Someone to post the finished pieces and answer the comments and messages they bring in.
Rules
Rules that shape marine content
Passengers for hire, charter licenses, kept fish, aerials, and releases.
Passengers for hire and the six-pack limit
Under 46 U.S.C. 2101, a passenger for hire is one for whom consideration is contributed as a condition of carriage, and an uninspected passenger vessel under 100 gross tons carries not more than six passengers, including at least one for hire. Section 8903 says such a vessel shall be operated by an individual licensed by the Coast Guard. A piece never invites more passengers than the boat is licensed and inspected to carry.
A fishing charter needs a DEC license
NYSDEC's Marine District Party and Charter Boat License allows the holder to carry recreational fishing passengers for hire on a registered vessel, and the application calls for the captain's Coast Guard license, plus a Certificate of Vessel Inspection for a boat that carries more than six passengers. We film charters that hold it.
A kept fish has to be a legal fish
NYSDEC describes a coastwide 28 to 31 inch slot for striped bass and the requirement to use circle hooks when fishing with bait for them, and its limits change by species and season. A bass held up for the camera outside the slot is evidence of a violation, so fish are shown kept only when the captain says they are legal, and any size or limit in a caption comes from the captain.

Aerials over the water
Under 14 CFR 107.39, a small drone may not fly over a person who is not directly participating in the flight, unless they are under a covered structure or in a stationary vehicle, or the operation meets a subpart D category. People on an open deck are neither, so aerials are flown beside boats with people aboard. Airspace near Republic, MacArthur, Gabreski, and East Hampton, and the rules at state parks and beaches, decide where we launch. Every drone flight is flown by an FAA Part 107 certified remote pilot.
Written consent from everyone on camera
New York's Civil Rights Law section 50 makes it a misdemeanor to use a living person's name, portrait, picture, likeness, or voice for advertising or trade without their written consent, or a parent's or guardian's for a minor. That covers staff and customers alike, so a signed release comes before anyone appears in a piece.
A plain reading of each rule with its source, not legal advice. We are not your compliance department, and we do not pretend to be. Your compliance team or counsel has the final word on every piece.
Questions
Questions marinas, dealers, and captains ask us
- Who makes social media content for marinas and boat dealers on Long Island?
- Core Media Co., a photography and video studio at 523 Lake Avenue in Saint James, NY. We film marinas, boat dealers, yards, and charter and fishing boats across Suffolk and Nassau County, from the dock, a chase boat, and the air, and hand over a month of finished Reels, photos, and captions. Plans run $1,500 to $4,000 per month with a six-month minimum.
- How much does monthly content cost for a marina or charter?
- Partner is $1,500, Partner+ is $2,750, and Flagship is $4,000 per month, each with a six-month minimum term, then month to month. Partner is 1 content day and 4 to 6 finished pieces a month. Partner+ is 2 content days, 1 long form video of 5 to 10 minutes, 10 short form pieces, and 3 to 4 static or carousel posts. Flagship is a weekly presence with 16+ pieces and event coverage included. The tiers are the same for a marina, boat dealer, or charter as for any other business.
- Can you film from the water?
- Yes, from your boat or a chase boat you provide, with your captain at the helm and our crew inside the boat's passenger limit. Aerials are flown where airspace allows, beside boats with people aboard rather than over them.
- Can you film a fishing trip?
- Yes, on a charter that holds its DEC party and charter boat license, with passengers who sign releases. Fish are shown kept only when the captain says they are legal that day, since DEC sets slots and limits that change by species and season.
- When should a marina start posting for the season?
- In the winter. Slip renewals, storage, and charter dates are decided before launch, so the pieces from last summer go out from January to March, and spring commissioning is filmed as it happens.
- Do you post to our accounts or run our ads?
- No. We make the content and hand it over ready to post: the finished files and their captions, cut for each platform, in a shared folder. You post them, or pass them to whoever runs your accounts. We do not post, boost posts, or run ads, and we do not promise follower numbers.
