Updated
East Hampton is an incorporated village in the Town of East Hampton, founded in 1648 as a farming settlement. After the railroad reached Bridgehampton in 1870, summer visitors began building cottages on the village's former farms and pastures, shingle style became popular from the 1880s, and the largest houses went up in the 1910s and 1920s, mostly on open farmland east of the center. The East Hampton Village District, around the village green, is on the National Register, and Hook Mill, a windmill from 1806, still stands on North Main Street. Georgica Pond, a 290 acre coastal lagoon behind a sandbar, forms the village's western edge.
Beyond the village, the Town of East Hampton runs about 25 miles east to Montauk Point, which has its own page. Wainscott, where the town airport is, lies to the west, and Amagansett to the east. To the north, Springs and Northwest Harbor face Gardiners Bay and the harbors off it, Accabonac Harbor and Three Mile Harbor among them, where the water is bay rather than ocean. So an East Hampton listing might be an ocean house south of Montauk Highway, a house on the pond, or a bay house in Springs, and each one needs a different day.
East of Bridgehampton on Montauk Highway, which widens to four lanes only inside the village. One of our longest drives, so a shoot here is the day's main job.
On the ground
What listings in East Hampton tend to need
- Shingle style houses, where weathered cedar, porches, and gardens need soft light and careful exposure rather than harsh midday sun.
- Ocean houses south of Montauk Highway, where the dune and the beach only read from the air, and the drone needs FAA authorization planned weeks ahead.
- Houses on Georgica Pond, where an aerial shows the frontage and the fingers of the lagoon around the lot.
- Bay houses in Springs, where the light over the water at the end of the day is the frame worth waiting for, and the hamlet center sits outside the airport's controlled airspace.
- Village houses near Main Street and the green, where the interiors and the walk into the village carry the listing.
Before the drone goes up
Drone airspace in East Hampton
By the FAA's Class Airspace data, the village center, Main Beach, Further Lane, Georgica Pond, Northwest Woods, and Wainscott sit inside the Class D airspace of East Hampton Town Airport (JPX). It reaches from the ground to 2,000 feet above sea level while the seasonal tower operates, 8 am to 8 pm from the Saturday before Memorial Day to the Sunday after Labor Day, and becomes a Class E surface area the rest of the year, which also requires authorization.
The airport is not on the FAA's list of LAANC airports, and the FAA's facility map data marks it as not LAANC enabled, so authorization goes through FAA DroneZone, where the FAA says processing has historically taken up to eight weeks. The centers of Springs and Amagansett are outside the Class D and Class G at the ground.
Every flight is flown by an FAA Part 107 certified remote pilot. We check the address against the FAA's airspace maps when you book, request any authorization it needs, and check the forecast, NOTAMs, and temporary flight restrictions before the day. If aerials cannot happen on your date, we tell you up front.
Read from FAA data on October 3, 2026, at points in and around East Hampton. Airspace and tower hours change, and an address near an edge can differ, so treat this as a starting point, not a clearance for any property.

Questions
Questions we get about East Hampton
- Who does real estate photography and video in East Hampton, NY?
- Core Media Co. does, from a studio at 523 Lake Avenue in Saint James. We shoot listing photography, 2D floor plans, aerials, twilight, and listing video in the village, Wainscott, Amagansett, Springs, and Northwest Harbor, and deliver everything in one shared folder.
- Can you fly a drone in East Hampton village or Wainscott?
- With FAA authorization, filed early. The village and Wainscott sit inside East Hampton Town Airport's Class D airspace, which becomes a Class E surface area outside the tower's summer hours, so authorization is needed all year. The airport does not take LAANC requests, so it goes through FAA DroneZone, where the FAA says processing has historically taken up to eight weeks. The centers of Springs and Amagansett are outside it, Class G at the ground.
- What light suits a shingle style house in East Hampton?
- Soft light: early morning, late afternoon, and twilight. Weathered cedar shingle goes flat and gray under a high summer sun, and gardens wash out. We plan the exteriors for the hours when the light is low and warm, and twilight, which comes with Signature, shows the house lit against the evening sky.
- What does an East Hampton listing shoot cost?
- Priced per listing, the same as every other town: Photos $350, Photos + Floor Plan $395, Photos + Air $495, Full Package $695, and Signature $1,250. Listing video comes with the Full Package and Signature, and Signature adds twilight and a full property tour of roughly ten minutes.
- Who does real estate drone photography and video in East Hampton, NY?
- Core Media Co. does, from the studio at 523 Lake Avenue in Saint James. Drone is included from Photos + Air, $495 per listing, and the Full Package, $695, adds a listing video with aerial footage. Every drone flight is flown by an FAA Part 107 certified remote pilot, and we check the East Hampton address for airspace, weather, and takeoff rules before the shoot.
- Can I get listing photos and video within 48 hours in East Hampton?
- Yes, on the Full Package, which is delivered within 48 hours: the photos, the 2D floor plan, the aerials, and the listing video, in one shared folder with MLS ready sizes, for $695 per listing. For the other packages, Core Media Co. confirms delivery when you book.
- How do I book a real estate photographer in East Hampton, NY?
- Send the address and the package you want through the contact form at thecoremedia.co/contact, email studio@thecoremedia.co, or book a 20-minute call. Core Media Co. confirms the day and sends a signed agreement before anything is scheduled. East Hampton listings are priced the same as every other town, $350 to $1,250 per listing.
