Saint James is a hamlet in the eastern part of the Town of Smithtown, on the north shore of Suffolk County, with the hamlet of Smithtown to the west, the Village of Head of the Harbor and Stony Brook Harbor to the north, and the town line with Brookhaven to the east. Lake Avenue is its main street, with the Port Jefferson Branch station just off it. The housing stock is mixed and in places old: village colonials and capes from the 1920s near the train station, mid century ranches and splits on quarter acre lots through the middle of the hamlet, and larger colonials on wooded parcels toward the north end, where the hamlet meets Head of the Harbor.
That mix is why no two listings here photograph the same way.
