Grand openings and ribbon cuttings

Grand opening and ribbon cutting video on Long Island

Quick answer

Core Media Co., a photography and video studio at 523 Lake Avenue in Saint James, NY, films grand openings and ribbon cuttings across Long Island, including chamber of commerce ceremonies: the space before the doors open, the ribbon, the speeches, and the first customers. Packages run $495 to $1,500 on a 3 hour base, with extra hours on any package. Releases are planned with you in advance.

Updated

An opening happens once. The ribbon is cut in four seconds, the speeches take ten minutes, and then the place is just open, so the footage has to be planned before the scissors come out. We film the finished space while it is still empty and lit, the ribbon from the angle that shows the sign, the remarks, and the first people through the door, and deliver raw footage or finished pieces in one shared folder.

This page is the opening-day side of our event coverage. The packages and booking are the same as on our event videographer page; what is different is the timing, the chamber or officials who attend, and how much of the year's content one morning can produce.

Across an event

One opening, in content

Three hours that become the first month of posts for a new business.

  1. Before the doors

The finished space empty and lit, the sign, the details, and the team getting ready.

  2. The ribbon

Remarks from the owner and guests, then the cut, from a spot that shows the sign and the faces.

  3. Doors open

The first customers, the first order or appointment, and the room filling up.

  4. After

The recap, the ribbon moment, and pieces on the space and the team, on the delivery timing confirmed when you booked.

The work

What we make from an opening

Pieces that announce the business and keep working after the day.

  • The ribbon moment

The countdown and the cut, short enough to post the same week.

  • The hero recap

Roughly 60 seconds of the day: the space, the ribbon, the people, and the first customers.

  • The space, empty and lit

A walkthrough of the new space before the crowd, for the website and the first month of posts.

  • The owner on why

A minute on why this business, why this town, filmed before the doors open.

  • The team

Each person on opening day, with a signed release, ready for introduction posts.

  • Photos for the chamber and the press

Stills of the ribbon and the guests, for the chamber's newsletter, the local paper, and your announcement.

On site

How we cover an opening

One moment that cannot be redone. These are the habits.

  • The ribbon spot, the angle, and the countdown are agreed before guests arrive.
  • The empty space is filmed first, so it is done before anyone walks in.
  • Guests featured in a piece sign a release, and anyone who opts out is kept out.
  • Chamber representatives and officials are filmed at the ceremony as they agree, and quoted only in their own words.
  • Children at a family opening are filmed only with a parent's written consent.
  • If the drone is used, it flies before the crowd gathers, never over it.

Your side

What the business provides

We plan, film, and edit. These stay with you.

  • The schedule for the day, including the chamber or officials attending.
  • Access to the finished space before guests arrive.
  • A release plan we agree on together.
  • An owner willing to say a minute on camera about why.
  • Someone to post the finished pieces and send the chamber its photos.

Rules

Rules that shape opening day content

Releases, drones over a crowd, and music.

  • Releases from the people in the recap

New York's Civil Rights Law section 50 makes it a misdemeanor to use a living person's name, portrait, picture, likeness, or voice for advertising or trade without their written consent, or a parent's for a minor, and section 51 lets that person sue to stop the use and recover damages. A recap that promotes your next event is advertising, so we plan releases with you: signage and a release at check-in, speakers and featured guests signed before they are featured, and anyone who opts out kept out.

  • No drone flights over the crowd

Under 14 CFR 107.39, a small drone may not fly over a person unless that person is directly participating in the flight, is under a covered structure or inside a stationary vehicle, or the operation meets one of the operational categories in subpart D. Attendees on a lawn or a street are none of the first two, so aerials are flown beside the crowd or before it arrives. Every drone flight is flown by an FAA Part 107 certified remote pilot. Core Media Co. is fully insured, and the coverage includes drone work.

  • The DJ's music is not the recap's music

Meta's Music Guidelines say that using music for commercial or non-personal purposes is prohibited unless you have the appropriate licenses. A band or DJ playing at the venue does not license that song for your recap, so the recap is cut to music licensed for it, and live sound is kept to speeches and the room.

Questions

Questions about opening day video

Who films ribbon cuttings and grand openings on Long Island?
Core Media Co., a photography and video studio at 523 Lake Avenue in Saint James, NY. We cover grand openings and chamber of commerce ribbon cuttings across Suffolk and Nassau County, from the empty space before the doors to the ribbon and the first customers. Packages run $495 to $1,500 on a 3 hour base.
How much does it cost to film a grand opening?
Every package is built on 3 hours of coverage. Basic is $495 for the raw footage, Standard is $795 for a hero recap of roughly 60 seconds and one bonus reel, and Premium is $1,500 for a hero recap and five to six bonus reels. Coverage beyond 3 hours is $100 per hour on any tier. A signed agreement comes before anything is booked.
Is 3 hours enough for a ribbon cutting?
Usually. An hour before the doors for the empty space and the team, the ceremony itself, and the first rush of customers fit inside the 3 hour base. Coverage beyond 3 hours is $100 per hour on any tier.
Can the footage fill our first month of posts?
That is what Premium is built for: a hero recap and five to six bonus reels, such as the ribbon, a walkthrough of the space, the owner on why, and the team. For a steady month after that, our monthly business plans pick up where the opening leaves off.
How fast do we get the recap?
We confirm delivery timing when you book, based on the package and the date. If you want a recap out while people are still talking about the event, tell us on the call and we plan the edit around it. Everything arrives in one shared folder, and you own the finished work.
Do you post to our accounts or run our ads?
No. We make the content and hand it over ready to post: the finished files and their captions, cut for each platform, in a shared folder. You post them, or pass them to whoever runs your accounts. We do not post, boost posts, or run ads, and we do not promise follower numbers.
