Greenlawn is a hamlet in the Town of Huntington, south of Centerport. When the Long Island Rail Road reached the area in the 1870s, the railroad named its station Greenlawn, and the station on the Port Jefferson Branch still serves the hamlet, with Broadway as its main road. Before the subdivisions this was farm country, known in the nineteenth century for pickles, cabbage, and potatoes, and the John Gardiner Farm, with a house from the 1750s, is kept by the Greenlawn-Centerport Historical Association.

Most of the housing came after the farms: capes, ranches, high ranches, split levels, and colonials on regular lots, with some older houses mixed in.
