Community and town festival video on Long Island

Quick answer

Core Media Co., a photography and video studio at 523 Lake Avenue in Saint James, NY, films street fairs, town festivals, and community events across Long Island for organizers, chambers, and sponsors: the vendors, the stage, and the crowd kept unrecognizable unless people sign releases. Packages run $495 to $1,500 on a 3 hour base, with extra hours on any package. Aerials fly before the crowd arrives.

Updated

A festival is dozens of small stories at once: the vendor who has been at the same corner for years, the band on the main stage, the line for the food truck, the street before and after. We film the day for the organizer, the chamber, or the sponsors, and deliver raw footage or finished pieces in one shared folder: a recap that sells next year, and short reels for the vendors and sponsors who made it happen.

Public streets full of families need more care, not less. Faces in the crowd stay unrecognizable unless someone signs a release, children are featured only with a parent's consent, and the drone never flies over the crowd. The packages and booking are the same as on our event videographer page; this page is how a public event changes the plan.

Across an event

One festival day, in content

Start early, while the street is empty, and stay for the moment the crowd peaks.

  1. Setup

Vendors building their booths, the stage going up, and the street from above while it is still empty.

  2. Doors open

The first crowd, the food, and the sponsor banners in context.

  3. The peak

The main stage, the busiest block, and the moments the organizer flagged.

  4. After

The recap, vendor and sponsor pieces, and footage for next year's promotion, on the delivery timing confirmed when you booked.

The work

What we make from a festival

Pieces for the organizer, the vendors, and the sponsors.

  • The hero recap

Roughly 60 seconds of the day, built to sell next year's event.

  • Vendor reels

Short pieces on the vendors the organizer wants to feature, with each vendor's OK.

  • Sponsor deliverables

Each sponsor's banner, booth, or stage mention in context, cut into a thank-you.

  • The street from above

Setup and the empty street from the air, flown before the crowd. Every drone flight is flown by an FAA Part 107 certified remote pilot.

  • The main stage

Performers who agree to be filmed, with the recap cut to licensed music rather than theirs unless they grant it.

  • Photos for the chamber and the press

Stills of the day for the organizer's website, newsletter, and the local paper.

On site

How we cover a public event

Families on a public street. These are the rules.

  • Crowd shots keep faces unrecognizable unless the person signs a release.
  • Children are featured only with a parent's or guardian's written consent.
  • Aerials fly before the crowd gathers or beside it, never over it.
  • Vendors and performers are featured only with their OK.
  • We follow the organizer's and the town's rules for the site, including where cameras and the drone can go.
  • A performer's set goes into a piece only if they grant it; otherwise the recap runs on licensed music.

Coverage

What each package covers

The same three packages as every event. Here is how each tends to work for a festival, which often runs past 3 hours.

  1. Basic

    $495

3 hours of coverage and the raw footage, for an organizer who edits in-house.

  2. Standard

    $795

3 hours of coverage, a hero recap of roughly 60 seconds, and one bonus reel, often for the main sponsor.

  3. Premium

    $1,500

3 hours of coverage, a hero recap, and five to six bonus reels, which suits a festival with several sponsors or featured vendors.

Your side

What the organizer provides

We plan, film, and edit. These stay with you.

  • The schedule, the site map, and the vendors and sponsors to feature.
  • Any permit or site rules for cameras and the drone.
  • A release plan for featured people, and consent for any child featured.
  • A contact on the day who can point out the people who matter.
  • Someone to post the finished pieces and send sponsors and vendors theirs.

Rules

Rules that shape festival content

Releases, drones over a crowd, and music.

  • Releases from the people in the recap

New York's Civil Rights Law section 50 makes it a misdemeanor to use a living person's name, portrait, picture, likeness, or voice for advertising or trade without their written consent, or a parent's for a minor, and section 51 lets that person sue to stop the use and recover damages. A recap that promotes your next event is advertising, so we plan releases with you: signage and a release at check-in, speakers and featured guests signed before they are featured, and anyone who opts out kept out.

  • No drone flights over the crowd

Under 14 CFR 107.39, a small drone may not fly over a person unless that person is directly participating in the flight, is under a covered structure or inside a stationary vehicle, or the operation meets one of the operational categories in subpart D. Attendees on a lawn or a street are none of the first two, so aerials are flown beside the crowd or before it arrives. Every drone flight is flown by an FAA Part 107 certified remote pilot. Core Media Co. is fully insured, and the coverage includes drone work.

  • The DJ's music is not the recap's music

Meta's Music Guidelines say that using music for commercial or non-personal purposes is prohibited unless you have the appropriate licenses. A band or DJ playing at the venue does not license that song for your recap, so the recap is cut to music licensed for it, and live sound is kept to speeches and the room.

How much does it cost to film a festival?
Every package is built on 3 hours of coverage. Basic is $495 for the raw footage, Standard is $795 for a hero recap of roughly 60 seconds and one bonus reel, and Premium is $1,500 for a hero recap and five to six bonus reels. Can you film the crowd?
Yes, with faces kept unrecognizable unless a person signs a release, which New York's Civil Rights Law section 50 requires before using someone's likeness for advertising. Children are featured only with a parent's written consent.
Can you fly a drone over the festival?
We fly before the crowd gathers or beside it, never over it, under 14 CFR 107.39, and only where the organizer, the town, and airspace allow. Every drone flight is flown by an FAA Part 107 certified remote pilot. Core Media Co. is fully insured, and the coverage includes drone work.
How fast do we get the recap?
We confirm delivery timing when you book, based on the package and the date. If you want a recap out while people are still talking about the event, tell us on the call and we plan the edit around it. Everything arrives in one shared folder, and you own the finished work.
Do you post to our accounts or run our ads?
No. We make the content and hand it over ready to post: the finished files and their captions, cut for each platform, in a shared folder. You post them, or pass them to whoever runs your accounts. We do not post, boost posts, or run ads, and we do not promise follower numbers.
